Tribute

Juan Carlos Escamilla was born to Carlos Marcelino Escamilla and Trinidad Guerra in Mexico City,
Mexico, on November 16, 1955, and passed away on November 7, 2022. He was raised by his paternal
grandmother, Concepcion Nunez, after losing his mother to childbirth during the birth of his sister
Socorro. Sadly, he lost both his grandmother, Concepcion, and his sister, Socorro, to an auto accident
caused by a drunk driver in 1980.
Early in Juan’s career he found his passion in the manufacturing and production of trace minerals,
supplements, and vitamins for livestock, mainly in food animal agriculture. He spent many years at
Nutricion Planificada in Pachuca Hildago, Mexico. Around 1988, Juan came to Amarillo to work for
NutriChem in the production of grain conditioners for the feedlot industry and remained there until mid-
1998. Juan began his career in production and maintenance with Global Animal Products on July 1 st ,
1998, where he continued to work until his death, just a few days before his 67 th birthday.
Juan took great pride in his work and workmanship. He was always very eager to please his fellow
employees, never wanting anyone else to do “his jobs”. He formed many friendships with people that
he worked with around the world including people from Australia, Brazil, South Africa, and Latin
America.
Juan was a longtime friend to Ken Ridenour and worked with him at NutriChem and Global Animal
Products for over 34 years.
Besides his children, Juan’s greatest pride was that he became a United States citizen. He studied so
diligently that he had almost all the questions and answers memorized.
Juan was preceded in death by his mother, Trinidad Guerra, his father, Carlos Marcelino, paternal
grandmother, Concepcion Nunez, sister, Socorro Escamilla, aunts Ana Maria Olascaoga, Concepcion
Fraga, and his uncle, Miguel Escamilla Nunez.
He is survived by his children, Rocio Lizbeth Vega and her husband Israel, his sons, Luis Angel Escamilla,
and Juan Carlos Escamilla and his wife Yadira, all of Pachuca, Mexico. His grandchildren, Allison Daniela,
Valeria Danaly, Daniel Ibrahim, Alondra Ashlyn, and Angel Itziar. His stepmother, Micaela Escamilla
Amaya. And his siblings, Sandra Martinez and her husband, Pete of Mercedes, TX, his brother, Javier
